Fond Memories of the Library
As a resident of Newtown for nearly three decades, I have always cherished our local library. The library has been an integral part of my family’s life, providing a space for us to explore, learn, and create together. When my sons were young, we would regularly visit the library, taking advantage of its many resources and programs. We would spend hours in the play area, engaging in imaginative play, reading books, and participating in the annual Summer Reading Program.

- Weekly Library programs
- Making friends
Our love for the library was also fueled by its rich history and cultural offerings. We would often attend events and exhibitions, such as the annual town-wide read of a historical fiction book, which culminated in a talk and movie screening at the library. These experiences not only brought us closer together but also deepened our appreciation for the town’s history and heritage.
The Library’s Programs and Offerings
In recent years, I have had the pleasure of participating in a variety of fantastic library programs and offerings. Some of the highlights include:
- Poetry walk
- Korean lotus workshop
- Meeting authors
- Yoga sessions
- Witness to the Holocaust
- The Garden World of Jane Austen
These programs have not only enriched my life but also provided a platform for me to meet like-minded individuals and engage with the community.
Exploring the Library’s Collections
In addition to its programs, the library also offers a wealth of resources and collections that cater to diverse interests. The Newtown History Room, in particular, is a treasure trove of local history and culture.
