Bocas Lit Fest takes Caribbean writers to UK, Spain Jamaican author Safiya Sinclair – Photo courtesy Beowulf Sheehan IN October, the Bocas Lit Fest will take a literary tour to three European cities, showcasing contemporary Caribbean writing at events in London, Madrid, and Belfast. “Featuring an exceptional lineup of ten authors, the tour celebrates the diversity and depth of recent Caribbean literature, offering audiences the opportunity to engage with some of the region’s most celebrated voices,” Bocas Lit Fest said in a news release on September 25. It said the initiative follows a highly successful UK tour organised by the Bocas Lit Fest in 2022, with events in five cities across Britain, as well as over a decade of showcasing Caribbean authors and writing at international festivals and events.

The tour will also feature Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, who won the Booker Prize in 2003 for her novel Half of a Yellow Sun. The tour aims to celebrate the rich literary heritage of the Caribbean and Africa, highlighting the works of authors who have made significant contributions to literature.

The event will be held at The Book Room in Kensington. The Book Room is a venue dedicated to fostering a love for reading and literature in the community. It features a diverse collection of books, hosts author talks, and offers a cozy environment for book lovers. The event promises to be a celebration of literature, providing opportunities for attendees to engage with authors, participate in insightful discussions, and gain a deeper understanding of the literary works being presented. Christine Roseeta Walker, a new Jamaican poet, is set to grace the literary scene with her debut book, Coco Island.
